Goosmann Law Firm
We were hired by the law firm to renovate the 1890’s era building (originally a bank) for use as their law office. The existing storefront consisted of decades of various infill.
Neo-classical details were often used in bank structures to communicate that the institution will survive the years much like the remains found in ancient Rome. Our design scheme maintains the existing historic elements while inserting new contemporary elements where the original elements no longer existed. This allowed the building to be up-to-date while also being respectful of its history.
At the interior, the many layers of carpet and vinyl tile were removed revealing the now re-finished maple wood floor. The acoustical ceiling tiles were removed to reveal the 16 foot high now-restored tin ceilings. Removing the existing ceiling tiles also exposed the neo-classical column capitals. It is important to note that many legal facilities, such as courthouses, use neo-classical elements to communicate a sense of order. This theme is picked up throughout the law office.
Highly finished elements such as the corporate color red arch are used throughout the interior in contrast to the more weathered historic elements to provide a more up-to-date look.
